The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 10

Hi Guys! I knew that I would be out this week and would not get to The Apprentice in time to write my review. Because of this I asked my good friend Andy Smith (who has been commenting on the series on my blog every week to write a review). Andy is an NLP, EI and AI expert so he has some interesting tips for us... On that note, I can't wait to get home... It seems I missed a decision from Sir Alan that without seeing it... Anyway... Week 10 of the Sales Apprentice and we're down to six candidates - three boys, three girls, and no place to … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 8

Week 8 of The Sales Apprentice and 8 contestants remain. This week their task, should they choose to accept it, was to create new flavours of crisps, produce samples and, representing two small UK crisp companies, travel to Hamburg in Germany and attempt to secure orders. The team with the most orders would be the winner. The line up this week was Stella leading Laura, Joanna and Stuart (who, after last week, was “too tired” to put himself up as project manager!) versus Chris leading Christopher, Jamie and Liz. You had to respect … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 7

Week 7 of the Sales Apprentice... a week defined by sales decisions, sales strategies and sales mistakes. And one in which there were many sales lessons to learn... This week’s task was to sell a blue-screen, video experience to the public so that they could star in their own reality video experience. Sir Alan was obviously keen to test out some of the weaker links in the group and, after a quick mix up of team members, appointed Stuart to go head to head with Sandeesh. As usual, the team who made the most profit would be the … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 6

So we’re into week 6 of The Apprentice and 10 remain... First tip this week came early on... don’t sleep in! If you haven’t got anything to do in the morning then there is a good chance that Sir Alan is going to knock on the door at the crack of dawn and catch you in your PJs. He always does this about week 5 or 6 so what they were all doing hunkered down in their pits I have no idea... Anyway, back to more serious business and this week’s task... To design a new brand of cleaning product, create radio and TV adverts to support … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 3

Well, I don’t know about you but I thought that tonight’s Sales Apprentice was probably one of the most clueless performances from all concerned that we have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Sure, there were some okay “sales” performances but I don’t really call smiling and offering muffins in the street, sales. If it is, then we really need to be concerned for the economic future of the UK. Anyway, cheery bagel -banter aside, this week’s performances were hopeless. But before we get going here are the sales training tips for … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 2

“From across the country, 16 of Britain’s brightest business prospects have come to London,” Err, ahem! And with these words, the second week of The Sales Apprentice kicked off. With bad feelings ruling on the boys’ team last week, this week it was the girls’ turn to make the boys look harmonious but they didn’t do it without a helping hand... Stella was moved over to work with them in the absence of Dan (fired) and Raleigh (retired for personal reasons) and promptly took charge. Her strong but fluid style proved to be the … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2010: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 1

“Even bigger egos,” promised the Beeb even before the start of this year’s Apprentice, the programme that many business people love to hate. The Apprentice must be the only TV show that motivates fully, grown business people to crouch behind the sofa and peer through their eyes like they were still 10 and watching the scariest episode of Dr. Who. Welcome back to The Sales Apprentice, my personal take on The Apprentice TV show where we take a light hearted look at the show with some serious sales training and business growth tips that … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2009: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Week 11, The Interviews

So I guess the biggest question tonight was which, if any, of the interviewers would you want to be interviewed by? Indeed, if their behaviour tonight was representative of their general leadership styles in the workplace which of them would you actually want to work for? But, real or not, representative of their day-to-day style or not, this was prime time TV and they had to make a spectacle of it. What’s more, of course, the whole premise of interviewing at the end of the hiring process is ludicrous; many of the issues that are … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2009: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Part IX

Week 9 and this week the apprentices had to select and sell two baby products per team at the Baby Show in Earls Court. The team who sold the most would win and on the losing team, someone would get the sack. Leading Ben, Debra and Yasmina (Empire) this week was James. Leading Howard and Kate (Ignite) was Lorraine. I’m really not sure who I wanted to lose this week or who I’d like to sack first. Lorraine is singularly annoying, Debra is contrary and aggressive, Ben is puffed up and ego-tastic, James is Tim-Nice-But-Dim... Howard, Kate … [Read more...]

The Sales Apprentice 2009: Sales Training Tips From The Hit TV Show, Part VIII

Week 8 and an interesting task rebranding Margate from being “a little tired” to being “a cool place to go”. Not many sales training tips this week but an interesting night and a few good tips. Leading the two teams this week were Debra and Yasmina. Yasmina declared that she was suggesting herself for this task as it required a “multitude of skills” and that she had them. Nothing if not humble. The two teams quickly started coming up with ideas for the rebranding. Debra, Mona, Howard and James decided that they would try and … [Read more...]
