Shaun

There's not many people who would appreciate being made to stand on their chairs today! But you're correct, it is critcical that salespeople are in the right sales state to cold call successfully (or indeed make any kind of sale).

Too many salespeople sit in their quiet offices wondering if anybody is listening in to them and feeling awkward and self-conscious when they should be on the phone and focusing on their clients!

Crashing through your self-imposed comfort zones is a sure fire way of lifting your game.

Great stuff Gvain.
I'm reminded of my first telesales role for a mojor utility company. The sales manageress there would make us stand on our chairs if we were flagging and we wouldn't be allowed off them until the leads began to flow. It got everybody excited and over any shyness/lack of confidence they might be feeling due to the awkwardness of the posture.
Wot a larf when I think back on it- and it worked!

I was put in the back row in a huge sales office, lumped together with the rest of the sales reps that were loud talkers and pacers. we made outbound cold calls all day long. i need to pace and use my hands while on the phone to keep the energy going. apparently it worked because i was in the top 5% of all salespersons.
