Shaun

One of my first sales manager asked me a great question, "Do you want to spend your life geting beaten up by gatekeepers or do you want to have meaningful conversations with decision makers?"

In my world, there can only ever be one answer to that question.

Absolutely! GK will only ask a few questions to beleive that they have done there job properly- so waste them! If I'm asked where I'm from i gicve the name of the town I'm calling from, not the company- then stay quiet! If they ask for the company name give that- the chances are now they won't ask the reason for the call.
Confidence is all. "Is John in?" then be quiet.
Silence from a salesperson is underestimated. As Gavin said too many salespeople rattle everything off about themselves leaving the gatekeeper with all the information they need but 2 or 3 questions in hand!
